Committees are vital to the AWM, serving to advance the AWM mission by connecting and celebrating women in the mathematical sciences through programming, advocacy, and increasing the professional visibility of women’s contributions in their fields.
The success of the AWM committees is made possible by the many volunteer leaders who devote their time to executing the AWM’s strategic mission. Some come into being through elections, while others are board-standing or defined by the constitution or bylaws. Most, however, require appointments of volunteer members each year.
The majority of AWM’s work is organized under six Portfolios, in addition to special committees and Liaison positions.
