Mirror symmetry is a duality arising in physics that relates distinct families of algebraic varieties. We analyze the geometry and arithmetic of highly symmetric Calabi-Yau hypersurface pencils in Grassmannian varieties and contrast their properties to classical mirror constructions associated to hypergeometric equations.
