This session will introduce La Matematica and its foundational philosophy to participants, then break into two roundtable discussions facilitated by editors-in-chief of La Matematica. One roundtable will focus on qualities of an extraordinary paper that is understandable to mathematicians outside the field. The other will focus on qualities of a spectacular referee report that provides useful feedback to the authors without unnecessary harshness. Both roundtables will be facilitated conversations where participants contribute their own ideas to build shared guidelines for the associated roundtable topic. If appropriate, these guidelines will be shared with the mathematical community through a blog post, AWM newsletter article, or other format.
