Women in Groups, Geometry, and Dynamics
A nontrivial group is called left-orderable if it admits a left-invariant order. In this talk, we will first survey the background, open questions, and conjectures related to the orderability of 3-manifold groups. Then we will discuss how this seemingly pure algebraic problem is naturally tied to the manifolds' dynamics and topology.
