Abstract:
There are numerical methods for partial differential equations that produce wrong solutions in spite of the fact that one can prove convergence results for these methods and furthermore confirm these results by numerical experiments. In this talk, Dr. Brenner will examine some examples and discuss how the pitfalls of such methods can be avoided.
