Statistics show that the proportion of women in STEM fields drops significantly at every stage of career development. AWM programs address this problem at many levels, from activities designed to stimulate an interest in math among K-12 girls, through programs to support professional mathematicians in academia and industry. In particular, we are the largest, most effective organization providing support and encouragement for female students in the mathematical sciences at the college and graduate school level. These women provide a prime talent pool for STEM careers. Assuring their continued interest and success has significant and immediate pay-off for our economy.

Sponsoring Institutional Memberships

If your institution has multiple departments whose faculty and student are AWM members or you wish to target AWM members with advertising, you may wish to invest a little more in  support of the Association for Women in Mathematics and its many programs.  Sponsoring Institutional Memberships start at around $3000.  In addition to supporting women and girls at all stages of their mathematical careers, sponsorship includes specific benefits (tailored to suit your institution):

  • Individual Memberships. AWM membership for all faculty and students who wish to join, including a limited number of AWM Newsletter subscriptions and  discounts on registration fees at AWM Events.
  • Promotion. Your institution’s Logo will be displayed as a Sponsoring Institutional Member on the AWM’s Institutional, Corporate, and Executive Sponsors webpage and the AWM Research Symposium Website, and your institution will be recognized as a sponsor at AWM Events.
  • Advertising Discounts. 30% discount on all AWM advertising.

Corporate Sponsorships

Support the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) and its many programs by becoming a corporate sponsor. The biennial AWM Research Symposium showcases the research of women in the mathematical professions, featuring plenary talks, special sessions on a broad range of research in pure and applied mathematics, and poster sessions for graduate students and recent PhDs.

The AWM Student Chapters program is a vibrant network of close to 100 Student Chapters at colleges and universities
across the United States. Sponsorship is needed to fund Student Chapter Awards, develop shared resource pages,
launch new activities, run outreach programs to connect with middle and high schools, and host local industry and
government speakers.

Sponsorship level: $750 to support a chapter

AWM runs several contests to increase awareness and recognize achievements of women in the mathematical sciences,
including an essay contest for high school girls and Best Poster competitions for graduate students at our workshops and
symposia. Sponsorship will be advertised in the AWM Newsletter and at conferences.

Mentorship is critical to the success of women in the mathematical sciences. AWM is seeking sponsors to expand its
Mentor Network to reach more girls in middle school and high school.

Sponsorship level: $750

For more than twenty years, AWM has sponsored Sonia Kovalevsky Days. Named after the first women in Europe to
receive a Ph.D. in Mathematics, these events, usually organized by colleges or universities, consist of fun-filled
workshops, talks, and problem-solving competitions for female high school and middle school students and their
teachers.

Sponsorship level: $2000

AWM organizes regular mentoring lunches for approximately 40 female graduate students and postdocs at our
workshops at national mathematics meetings. These lunches serve to build community and connect students to
mentors and role models. Sponsorship includes recognition in the printed AWM Program, an announcement at the
workshop, and the opportunity to distribute promotional materials and present briefly at the lunch.

The USA Science and Engineering Festival and the National Math Festival take place in alternating years in April on the
mall in Washington DC. Sponsorship is needed to fund costs associated with the AWM both at these events.

Sponsorship level: $5000

The AWM Reception is a signature annual event for AWM and draws approximately 500 attendees; sponsorship of this
event offers significant publicity. Several award winners are honored at this event, including the AWM Dissertation Prize, the
Alice Schaefer Prize, AWM Service Awards and the AWM Fellows.
