The CBMS Conference: Mathematical Methods for Novel Metamaterials will be held May 20-24, 2024 at Auburn University in Auburn, AL. This NSF Funded conference will focus on the most recent developments in mathematical methods for optical metamaterials. Topics include: mathematical theory for metamaterials consisting of subwavelength resonators; mathematics of edge modes in topological photonic/phononic materials; advanced computational methods for modeling, simulation and design in metamaterials; exotic linear and nonlinear light-matter interactions in metamaterials; pentamode materials; and, quantum optics in random media. The goals of this conference include: (i) presentation of the state-of-the-art mathematical research in subwavelength metamaterials and new developments in material sciences for graduate students and postdoctoral and junior researchers from applied mathematics, physics and engineering; (ii) charting future directions and formulating open problems in this interdisciplinary field; and, (iii) establishing new collaborations across the boundaries of mathematics, physics and engineering.
