Research Networks: Computability and Complexity by Gender Minorities (CoCoGEMS)

CoCoGEMS supports women and people of other genders or gender identities that are underrepresented in the mathematics community whose research lies in computability theory and complexity theory.

Computability theory and complexity theory seek to calibrate the computational strength of functions from the natural numbers to the natural numbers: Can the value of a particular function be determined by a computer program? If not, what additional information would a computer program have to be given to determine these elements or values, and how complicated is that additional information? If so, what resources are needed to do so? These are interdisciplinary fields: most researchers are in mathematics or computer science departments, while a few are in philosophy departments.
