WiGGD is a research retreat for women in groups, geometry, and dynamics. Participants gather in small groups to work on specific projects.

WiGGD was started in 2019 and is currently organized by Jing Tao, Sara Maloni, Kasia Jankiewicz, and Tullia Dymarz.

Upcoming Events

WiGGD 3 at BIRS! July 13-18, 2025. WiGGD2025 site

The “Women in Groups, Geometry, and Dynamics” workshop aims to foster collaborations among women and gender minorities. This workshop is a continuation of the previous two successful retreats. It will bring together researchers at various career stages to work on collaborative research projects in the intersection of geometric topology, geometric group theory, and dynamics. The workshop will also provide mentorship and build a sense of community among women and gender minorities working in the area. Participants will be assigned to one of four groups, each working on a different research project in the intersection of groups, geometry, and dynamics. Work on the projects will begin remotely months before the in-person workshop and may continue beyond the workshop itself.
